Saudi Diplomat Reveals Riyadh’s Involvement in Arming the SAF

Recent statements made by a Saudi diplomat have sparked widespread controversy regarding the nature of Saudi Arabia’s role in the Sudanese war, as he spoke about Riyadh’s support for the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which extended to assistance in regards to the arrangement of arms deals with “Pakistan.”

In a widely circulated video, the diplomat criticized Egypt’s stance on the war in Sudan and acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s alignment with the Sudanese Army under Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan’s command. These statements, naturally, raised valid concerns about Riyadh’s role as a mediator in efforts to end the ongoing war.

According to the video, the diplomat stated that Saudi Arabia contributed to arranging and coordinating Pakistani arms deals for the Sudanese Army, noting that the support included various military equipment, such as; armored vehicles, tanks, aircraft, and drones.

Furthermore, the diplomat in question linked the support provided by (KSA) to the recent developments on the ground, sharing that Saudi and Pakistani efforts helped hinder the Rapid Support Forces’ advancing momentum.

Naturally, the aforementioned statements served to shed light on the nature of the Saudi role in the Sudanese war, at a time when the Kingdom is hosting diplomatic efforts and meetings aimed at reaching a settlement.
