The University of Khartoum to launch an open-ended strike

The General Assembly of the University of Khartoum Professors’ Union announced a comprehensive strike beginning April 12th, 2026, to demand the approval of a new salary structure and terms of service regulations for university professors.

In a statement numbered (2), the Union explained that the move came after attempts to implement proposals submitted by the relevant committee in (October 2025) were met with failure.

The statement clarified that the recent salary increases do not address the fundamental demands related to the job structure and terms of service.

Hence, the Union called on faculty members to adhere to the strike decision, emphasizing the need for a unified stance within the university.

Furthermore, the Union described the professors’ demands as being naturally linked to improving the professional environment and ensuring a better future for the profession.
