Al Mahdi Warns Against Engaging in Confrontations with Ethiopia

The head of the Umma Party, Mubarak Al-Fadil Al-Mahdi, reiterated the warnings of the late Imam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi regarding the dangers of engaging in a direct confrontation with Ethiopia, pointing out that the geopolitical balance awards Addis Ababa a clear defensive advantage.
In a post on the (X) platform, Al-Fadilexplained that Ethiopia’s eastern border with Sudan consists of mountain ranges that provide a natural defense, whilst being faced with Sudan’s open plains that encompass vital infrastructure such as the Roseires Dam, Khashm el-Girba Dam, as well as Al-Jazeera and Rahad Irrigation Schemes.
Al-Fadil quoted a phrase Imam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi used to reiterate: “Ethiopia is facing us with its back… and we are facing it with our belly,” indicating the vulnerability of the Sudanese position in the event of a confrontation.
