Urgent Communication from the Peace Govtto the UN, WHO, UNSC, and the ICC

The Ministry of Health of the Government of Peace sent an urgent communication today, Friday, addressed to the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the Presidency of the UN Security Council, and the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, regarding the systematic targeting of medical facilities in Darfur and Kordofan.
The Ministry explained that the drone attacks that targeted En-Nahud Referral Hospital on April 9th, 2026; Abu Zabad Hospital in West Kordofan on April 6th, 2026; and Ad-DaeinEmergency Teaching Hospital on March 20th, 2026, which resulted in dozens of civilian casualties, constitute grave violations of International Humanitarian Law and amount to “War Crimes as well as Crimes Against Humanity.”

The Ministry of Health of the Peace Government in Sudan has issued an urgent legal communication on Thursday 9/4/2026 addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the President of the United Nations Security Council, and the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court regarding the systematic targeting of medical facilities in Darfur and Kordofan.
The Ministry stated that the drone attacks on Al-Nuhud Referral Hospital (April 9, 2026), Abuzabad Hospital in West Kordofan (April 6, 2026), and Al-Daien Emergency Teaching Hospital (March 20, 2026), which resulted in dozens of civilian casualties, constitute grave violations of international humanitarian law and amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The Ministry called on the World Health Organization to conduct an independent international investigation and document violations against the healthcare sector, urged the United Nations Security Council to open an urgent investigation and impose sanctions on those responsible, and requested the International Criminal Court to immediately investigate and prosecute perpetrators.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians and healthcare facilities, stressing that continued attacks on hospitals threaten the collapse of Sudan’s health system and require urgent international action to ensure accountability and protection of medical infrastructure.
