In a Bizarre Turn of Events: Sudanese Police abducts a child from his family in Port Sudan

Port Sudan: Assayha

Today, Wednesday, hundreds took to the streets of Port Sudan in the Red Sea state, protesting the disappearance of Montaser Osman Idris, a child who had been handed over to the police three years prior.

The protesters blocked the street leading to the Family and Child Court in response to the child’s disappearance, in turn, they went on to set tires on fire as well.

For their part, the protesters accused the Child Protection Police of abduction, negligence, and irresponsibility, especially since the last known location of the child in question is their buildings’ premises.

Observers fear the issue could escalate, leading to security breaches in the Red Sea region, given the absence of the Police Force, amidst concerns regarding clashes with the demonstrators, for they have been burning tires and blocking roads in protest.

Furthermore, the aforementioned demonstrations come hours after a meeting between the Red Sea state Police Command and Native Administrations regarding Montaser’scase, which, unfortunately, ended without any resolution.
