El-Gedaref: Dissolution of the Popular Resistance and Mobilization Committee
The acting governor of El-Gedaref, Staff Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Ahmed Idris, issued a decision to dissolve the Popular Resistance and Mobilization Committee in Al-Fashaga locality, based on the Emergency and Safety Protection Act of (1997), in addition to Article (9/1/A) of the Decentralized Governance Regulation Act of (2020).
The decision comes within the framework of implementing the regulations related to the Popular Resistance and Mobilization for the year (2024). As relevant authorities have been directed to implement this decision immediately.
The Popular Resistance, also known as the Popular Mobilization, is a bloc of armed factions closely affiliated with the Islamic Movement, and was formed in response to the ongoing war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
