Intelligence detains French organization staff in Sennar

The Military intelligence in Singa locality of Sinnar state has arrested the staff of the French “Acted” organization, including foreigner personnel, last Tuesday, before releasing some of them at a later date after assaulting them.

The Military Intelligence continues its massive arrests campaign in the states of White Nile, Sennar, North Kordofan and Al-Jazeera.

The Military Intelligence raided the residence of “Acted” personnel in Singa last Tuesday and arrested all foreign and Sudanese staff without disclosing any reasons, only to release the foreign staff and females at a later date, while continuing to detain three Sudanese employees.

The National Umma Party announced that a military intelligence force in “Kenana” arrested, on Thursday, three of their leaders and members: Al-Sadiq Adam Rahma, Party Secretary, Younis Mohammed Younis, a member of the Executive Office of the Ansar Affairs Authority in “Kenana”, and Awad Al-Sadiq Kabbashi, an employee in “Kenana”. Al-Hadi Hussein Tayeb Al-Asma’ from Um Jur administrative district of Al-Dueim locality has been detained for more than three months.

The Army’s Military Intelligence continues to detain the two brothers, lawyer Makkawi Mohammed Adam and university student Maghdad Mohammed Adam, along with two of their relatives, for the seventh day in Abu Hajjar area of Sennar state, as hostages to pressure their brother Musab to surrender himself.

Musaab Mohammed Adam, from Abu Hajjar Resistance Committees in Sennar state, shared that the Military Intelligence continues to detain his two brothers, the lawyer Makkawi, the university student Miqdad, as well as two of their relatives, for the seventh day.

The Intelligence is holding the detainees in the cells of the 17th Infantry Division in Singa and has yet to release them or allow their families to visit them. They have also threatened Musab’s father with the arrest of more members of his family.

In Al-Jazeera state, Military Intelligence has arrested on Friday the lawyer and activist Salah Al-Tayeb, head of the Change and Services Committees in “Al-Azazi” administrative district in Al-Jazeera state.

Political parties and human rights groups condemned the continued targeting of activists, volunteers in shelters, and members of the Resistance and Emergency Committees. And stated that these arrests are part of the campaign launched by the authorities against activists, politicians, and civil society leaders.

Last week, the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate condemned the repeated security raids on the family home of journalist Ali Al-Arsh in the city of Singa in Sennar state, and the arrest of a number of his family members. Pointing out that the raids usually take place late at night and are accompanied by house searches and intimidation of women, children and the elderly in search of him, despite the family’s confirmation that their son is residing outside of Sudan.

The National Umma Party in the White Nile state reaffirmed its rejection of all arrest campaigns, and held elements of the ousted regime’s holdouts responsible for the random arrests.
