Daglo Discusses the latest Developments in Sudan with the UN

The President of the Presidential Council of the Government of Peace and Unity, and Commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, held a telephone conversation on Friday with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Sudan, Mr. Pekka Haavisto, during which they discussed the latest developments in Sudan and explored ways to strengthen regional and international efforts aimed at promoting stability in the country and alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Sudanese people amid the ongoing conflict.
Furthermore, the two sides discussed the military and security developments across the country, particularly the situation in the city of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State.
The President of the Presidential Council reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the protection of civilians and civilian objects, noting that the forces of the Sudan Founding Alliance remain fully committed to the provisions of International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Conventions governing code of conduct and engagement during military operations, including the obligation to facilitate safe humanitarian corridors, to allow civilians to leave freely and safely.
