Hamdok Rejects Saudi Arabia’s Offer to Form Civilian Government with Al Burhan

The Horn of Africa (HOA) Observatory, citing political sources, revealed that former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok refused to engage in any political arrangements or understandings sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia -aimed at reshaping the political landscape by bringing civilian forces into alignment with the Sudanese Armed Forces Chief, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
According to the sources, Hamdok insists on the necessity of reaching a comprehensive political settlement that ends the war in Sudan and leads to an independent civilian transition process, free from military influence.
Furthermore, according to the Observatory, Hamdok warned that the failed settlement experiences in Yemen cannot serve as a model for resolving the Sudanese crisis.
The French website “Africa Intelligence” had previously revealed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is quietly working on the Sudanese issue in an effort to establish a civilian base that enjoys international recognition, within the framework of understandings in connection to the Sudanese Army Chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
The website, citing sources, further indicated that Riyadh is actively working behind the scenes to push for the establishment of a new, “credible” civilian government with international recognition, allied with Al-Burhan.
The sources added that Saudi officials are conducting intensive efforts in terms of outreach to influential Sudanese civilian figures as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at persuading the latter to engage in this political process and cooperate directly with Al-Burhan.
