Kassala Joins Teachers’ Strikes in Sudan

Recently, the education crisis in Sudan has entered a new phase with the teachers’ committee in Kassala state announcing the initiation of a comprehensive strike set to begin on June 7th, in protest against -rather devastatingly- low wages and the accumulation of outstanding financial entitlements over the years.
The afore referenced decision came just one day after a similar strike took place across the state of Khartoum involving hundreds of teachers in approximately one hundred schools, which, in itself, served to reflect the widening scope of protests involving the education sector.
