He noted that, “The Islamic Movement exerted significant pressure on Al-Kabbashi in an effort to prevent him from continuing what we started in Manama,” emphasizing that the Islamic Movement controls the decisions of both the Sudanese Army and the Armed Movements, effectively dictating the rejection of humanitarian ceasefires and peace initiatives.
The second-in-command of the Rapid Support Forces reported that his forces managed to successfully evacuate thousands of innocent civilians from El-Fasher through humanitarian corridors that lasted for six months. He further shared that RSF Commanders publicized appeales to the civilians in three languages and dialects, noting that military personnel affiliated with the Armed Movements and the Sudanese Army were released as part of these initiatives.
Moreover, he went on to affirm that El-Fasher, following its liberation, is awarded a significant amount of attention from the Peace Government, as the provision of basic and humanitarian services continue following the return of a significant number of the region’s citizens. He stated that El-Fasher, at the moment, is one of the safest cities in Darfur.
In conclusion, the RSF Deputy Commander noted that the military personnel who committed violations against civilians in El-Fasher were arrested, imprisoned, and brought to trial, stressing that the Rapid Support Forces Commanders and officers undergo training in International Humanitarian Law and the protection of civilians.
