Washington, on the verge of designating MB as a Terrorist Organization

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Friday that Washington is likely to make some announcements regarding the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) next week.
Rubio further explained that he expects “announcements next week related to the executive order issued by President Donald Trump concerning the Muslim Brotherhood.” Last November, the US President signed an executive order requiring his Administration to determine whether certain branches of the Muslim Brotherhood, such as those in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan, should be designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizationz(FTO) or specially designated as global terrorist organizations.
Furthermore, the aforementioned executive order directed Rubio and Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent to consult with Attorney General Pam Bondi and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, in an effort to prepare a report within (30 days). In consequence, this designation would criminalize providing any support to the group, impose economic sanctions, and bar its members from entering the United States.
The White House shared in a statement: “President Trump is confronting the transnational Muslim Brotherhood network, which fuels terrorism and destabilization campaigns against the interests of the United States and its allies in the Middle East.” Trump had previously stated in a press conference that designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization “will be done in the strongest and most powerful terms,” adding that, “the final documents are being drawn.”
Republicans in the House and Senate, along with a number of Democrats, have been urging the State Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
