The Government Suspends the Activities of the French (MSF)

 On Thursday, the Government of Peace and Unity announced the suspension of the activities of the French organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) due to serious human rights violations and sexual extortion crimes committed by dozens of the organization’s employees against innocent Sudanese women in eastern Chad.

 Prime Minister, Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’aishishared in a press statement yesterday that the decision was issued based on the recommendation of the ministerial committee tasked with monitoring the efforts put forth by organizations.

 Furthermore, he revealed information regarding the formation of a Fact-Finding Committee, co-chaired by the Ministers of Justice, Foreign Affairs, and Health, in addition to the head of the National Authority for Humanitarian Access (as a member and rapporteur), and representatives from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Military Intelligence, and the Police Force. The afore referenced Committee is to submit its report within (30 days).

 The decision further tasked the Minister of Health and the head of the National Authority for Humanitarian Access with taking the necessary measures to address and/or bridge any gaps that may arise from the implementation of this decision.

 The Prime Minister went on to commend the judicial measures taken by the Chadian government to achieve justice for the victims and protect them.

 In addition, the text of the decision noted that such measures were implemented in an effort to safeguard the dignity of Sudanese citizens as well as to ensure accountability and prevent impunity.

In conclusion, all relevant authorities were urged to implement the decision immediately.
