Teachers in Al Jazeera state launch strike

On Sunday, Teachers in Al-Jazeera state launched a statewide strike following the state’s Ministry of Finance refusal to engage with their assigned Teachers’ Committee, which had previously submitted a memorandum outlining several demands on June 6th,  2026.

In a statement released Sunday, the Teachers’ Committee reported an unprecedented and widespread response to the strike on its first day across Al-Jazeera state’s districts, with participation rates ranging from (97%) to (99.9%) across Elementary, Middle, and High schools.

Moreover, the Teachers are demanding the disbursement of accumulated annual dues, the differences related to the cash alternative grant for workers, as well as the clothing allowance that has been delayed for four full years, and the frozen allowances and bonuses.
