Call for a no-fly zone over Sudan

The Sudan Liberation Movement – Transitional Council (SLM-TC) expressed deep concern over the prolongation of the war in Sudan with its serious repercussions at the local, regional and international levels, and its direct impact on neighboring countries.

In a statement by its official spokesman, Abdul Aziz Abdul Karim, the Movement shared that the situation on the ground is heading towards a dead end, adding that insisting on the option of military decisiveness will only lead to more bloodshed, displacement, and the destruction of what remains of the Civil Institutions and people’s property, exposing the unity of the country and society to imminent danger.

The (SLM-TC) renewed its call to the international community to impose a no-fly zone over Sudan, especially areas inhabited by civilians, because the indiscriminate bombing by the Army’s aircrafts has become a deadly matter for all Sudanese men and women.

The Movement urged the Sudanese civilians to utilize all means to stop the war, to determine the type of peace that the Sudanese people want and the national project that defines the features of sustainable development within the framework of modern Sudan, in addition to the principles of the glorious December Revolution to move forward into restoring the democratic civil transformation.

The Movement also called on both parties to the conflict to immediately cease hostilities, to refrain from targeting civilians and the infrastructure, whether through artillery shelling or warplane bombing. It called on friendly countries, peace-loving nations and the international community to provide an urgent and coordinated international response to help victims of war and natural disasters in Sudan.
