Al-Burhan facing fire !!

Safaa Al-Fahal

The extremist Islamic Movement has recreated the assassination scenario of the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat with some minor differences in details when it was faced with no other escape from direct confrontation and action. In similar fashion to how the Movement once mobilized the public against the late “Jaafar Nimeiri” when it felt the end was near and it wouldn’t be able to restore its rule over the country, with a different form of action this time.

As expected, “Al-Kizan” began the final and decisive stage of trying to tighten their grip on power following their desperate attempts of dispersing the sit-in, overthrowing the Civilian Government, igniting the war, then attempting to prevent the delegation of the Armed Forces from participating in the numerous peace talks, because they feel that the upcoming talks announced by the United States will undoubtedly challenge their control of the situation.

War was declared rather blatantly against anyone who tried to side with peace and they eliminated anyone who stood in the way of them proceeding to tighten that control, the latest instance of which was (the suicide) by striking Al-Burhan and some of the officers surrounding him who supported the process of participating in the negotiations and attempting to (assassinate) him during the Military Academy’s graduation ceremony in the “Gebeit” area, coinciding with their movements within the Armed Forces in an attempt to tip the scales that had been favoring negotiation to stop the war.

With the current state of chaos wrecking hovac and hindering the process of unifying the decision within the Military Institution, the plan was to pin the accusation of assassination on the Rapid Support Forces after “Yasser Al-Atta” took control of the situation and announced the continuation of the war “in revenge” for the killing of “the leader” and thus finding sufficient justification for rejecting the invitation to participate in the negotiations and declaring general mobilization to elicit the sympathy of the general public and rally around Al-Kizani group that will then take over the reins to reinstate the Islamic Movement in power.

The plan was simply stupid for ignoring some minor details that were expected to be covered by the media campaign which was to be launched after the success of that assassination attempt.

The drone that carried out the assassination attempt was Iranian-made and not owned by the Rapid Support Forces, and the Movement’s leaders fled abroad in large numbers, perhaps so they would be further away from the scene in the event of failure or some members objecting to that coup.

Now that the assassination attempt has failed and the truth has been revealed, the confrontation has become clear between the two conflicting factions within the Armed Forces; those who support reaching an agreement to stop the war and Al-Kizan faction that insists on its continuation..

But the question remains:

How will Burhan and his group act after this rather direct confrontation ? Will he complete what “Jaafar Nimeiri” was contemplating by eliminating the leaders of the extremist Islamic Movement and begin to reorganize the political movement in the country with a number of reconciliations ? Or will he continue to appease Al-Kizani group that has gathered around him ? Only the upcoming days can provide an answer to this particular question..

In any case, the revolution will never stop..

Retribution is inevitable..

Mercy and forgiveness be upon the righteous martyrs of the revolution..
