Al Hadi Idris: The Government of Peace and Unity enjoys significant international recognition

The head of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) and head of the Sudan Liberation Movement – Transitional Council (SLM-TC), Dr. Al-Hadi Idris, a former member of the Sovereignty Council, revealed information regarding arrangements to announce the Government of Peace and Unity after signing the Political Charter today, Tuesday. He confirmed that they have guarantees from several countries to recognize their government -scheduled to be announced after the (18th) of this month.
Al-Hadi Idris stated in a tweet on the “X” platform that the Political Charter will be signed by political and civil groups, Armed Struggle Movements, in addition to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
He explained that the Political Charter contains a preamble that emphasizes the importance of stopping the war and resolving the roots of the crisis, in addition to emphasizing the unity of Sudan as a democratic State and the unity of the Army,. He added, “We have allocated a space to take into account the reasons for forming the government, which will be a government of peace for all of Sudan.”
Idris reiterated that the basis of this war is the conflict over power and legitimacy, and stated, “The obstinate party in the issue of peace embraces elements of the defunct regime even though they have no interest in establishing peace, therefore, this government will push towards establishing peace.”
He continued, “There are also groups of citizens who lack services and identification documents, this government comes within the framework of providing these services,” Idris went on to confirm that, “Most importantly, we are keen on the unity of Sudan and shielding it from division.”
The head of the Revolutionary Front revealed in press statements that they have guarantees from numerous countries to recognize their upcoming government, and shared, “The Political Charter for the Government of Peace and Unity is available, and we welcome the Sudanese Army to sign it. We will announce our government after signing the Political Charter on the 18th of February.”
The announcement of the approaching date for forming the Government of Peace and Unity caused a “rippling shock” that swept through political, social, and even “military” circles.
The official Spokesperson for the United Civil Forces (UCF), Othman Abdel Rahman Suleiman, previously explained, according to (Asharq Al-Awsat), that the Technical Committees had finalized the details related to drafting and preparing the Interim Constitution for the government, the Political Charter, as well as the government program, and were now ready for signing.
According to Suleiman, the tasks of the intended government will include protecting civilians, providing basic services -such as identification documents, facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and communication with the international community, in addition to neutralizing the Air Force.
