An Israeli Channel: Iran compensates for Syria’s losses by strengthening its cooperation with Al-Burhan
The Israeli (Channel 12) revealed that Iran is attempting to compensate for its loss in Syria by expanding its influence in Sudan, achieving that end by strengthening cooperation with the Sudanese Army Commander-in-Chief, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
Channel 12 reported that even before the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime, and with the collapse of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, Iran began cooperating with the Sudanese Army in recent months for the aim of obtaining a permit to establish a Military port in the city of Port Sudan on the shores of the Red Sea.
Thus, Iran will be granted a strategic and significant foothold in one of the most important and sensitive regions of the Middle East, from Israel’s point of view, according to the source.
The Israeli channel indicated that Iran strengthened its relations with Al-Burhan last year, after a major hiatus over the past years.
It explained that for many months, the (Iranian Revolutionary Guard) has been supplying large quantities of weapons and ammunition, especially attack drones, which constitute a very significant element in the Army’s war against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Military port in Port Sudan is expected to figuratively kill two birds with one stone, according to (Channel 12), as it will maintain Iran’s influence in the Middle East, as well as maintain a strategic route for Russian forces to penetrate various African countries.
According to Bloomberg, Russia offered the Sudanese Army a prestigious (S-400 Air Defense Batteries) as a grant in exchange for starting discussions on building a Military Port in Port Sudan.
However, the Sudanese Army refused to accept the defense battery for fear of severe sanctions from the West, according to the agency’s report.
