The Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) stated that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) committed a new massacre, in a drone attack that targeted a gathering of displaced people (IDPs) in \u201cAl-Tadamun\u201d locality, \u201cQoz al-Dehaish,\u201d an area located in the southern Badia of the New Funj region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement issued today, Thursday, the Alliance\u2019s official spokesperson, Ahmed Tugod Lissan, shared that the attack comes at a time of escalating international condemnation of the Sudanese Armed Forces, following what he described as the proven use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons. He considered the aforementioned a \u201cblatant disregard for International Humanitarian Law and international conventions and norms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement further explained that the attack resulted in the unjustly death of two children along with their father, seriously injuring their mother as well as two other daughters, in addition, dozens of civilians were wounded in the attack. According to the statement, the drones targeted innocent families and civilian gatherings, far removed from any military manifestation or target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sudan Founding Alliance believed the attack perfectly encapsulates the Sudanese Armed Forces\u2019 adopted policy of systematically targeting civilians, spreading terror amongst them, and destroying the foundations of life in safe areas. Hence, (Tasis) stated that what took place amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity, warranting international criminal prosecution and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, the Alliance held the Sudanese Army fully responsible for the attack, calling on the United Nations, the African Union, and regional as well as international partners to take immediate action and implement measures to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and impunity is ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In conclusion, the official spokesperson for the Alliance reiterated in the statement that targeting civilians will not deter (Tasis) from fulfilling its duty to protect and defend civilians, noting that its forces -the Founding Alliance Forces (FAF)- reserve the right to respond to these attacks in accordance with International Law and adopting the legitimate right of self-defense.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
