Recently, in a rather predictable development, the cost of living crisis has notably worsened, with the price of a single loaf of bread reaching (350 Sudanese pounds), when four loaves of bread -until a very recent date- used to be priced at (1,000 Sudanese pounds). The aforementioned reality comes mere days after fuel prices soared and supplies became scarce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bakery owners attributed the price increase to the rising cost of flour, increased production costs, and the soaring price of fuel, which has reached (40,000 Sudanese pound) per gallon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately, the economic and living conditions of Sudanese citizens continue to deteriorate -unaddressed, with the Sudanese pound plummeting -in value- to its lowest level ever, as the US dollar is trading at the moment at around (6,000 Sudanese pounds) on the parallel market amidst a severe shortage of hard currency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
