Ibrahim Al-Mirghani, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs in the Government of Peace and Unity, and a leading figure in the Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis), criticized the recent calls for national dialogue under the auspices of the Sudanese Armed Forces’ leadership. He went on to describe them as a renewed attempt to revive the former partnership between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Islamic Movement under the banner of \u201cnational consensus.\u201d Hence, he deemed Al-Burhan’s call for dialogue as a \u201cdesperate attempt to revive an ousted regime,\u201d asserting that the current state of awareness witnessed amongst the Sudanese public is sufficient to thwart these \u201cold schemes.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In press statements on Saturday, Al-Mirghaniexplained that the parties responsible for orchestrating the October 25th coup as well as instigating the April 15th war lack the qualifications to sponsor any serious national dialogue. He pointed out that the decision-making process within the military establishment has become dominated by elements of the Islamic Movement and remnants of the former regime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, the Minister added that any political process under military supervision is fated to amount to no more than a sham trial aimed at granting renewed legitimacy to the existing alliance between (SAF) and the Islamists. In addition, the member of the Leadership Council of the Founding Alliance stressed that resolving the crisis requires a completely different approach, one based on holding a national dialogue under the auspices of neutral regional or international parties, with the active and direct participation of civilian as well as revolutionary forces.
