The family of Adam Mohamed Ishaq, a 67-year-old man, announced today, Tuesday that their father died as a result of torture in one of the Detention Centers operated by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in Wad Medani, Al-Jazeera state, located to the south of Khartoum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The family shared that the Military Intelligence arrested their father, and after interrogating the late victim and examining his identification documents, they discovered he was originally from Nyala, South Darfur state. Hence, he was immediately accused of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during the period when they controlled Al-Jazeera state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, the family reported that their late father remained in army detention ever since, until his health deteriorated due to chronic illnesses and his advanced age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They indicated that the victim had lived in Al-Salam neighborhood before moving to Al-Jazeera state about two decades ago looking for a job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement from the victim’s family, the outbreak of the war in (April 2023) forced them -his children- to flee from Al-Jazeera to Kalma Camp in South Darfur state, whilst their father remained in Wad Medani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a similar context, earlier last year, Mohamed Ahmed, a resident of Nyala, died in a Detention Center belonging to the Sudanese Army in Khartoum state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Human rights reports indicate that hundreds of detainees from Darfur states are being held in Sudanese Army Detention Centers on charges of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces during the period when they controlled Khartoum, Al-Jazeera, as well as parts of Sennar states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
