 The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) condemned on Thursday the bombing of \u201cKutum\u201d in North Darfur by a drone operated by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which resulted in the death and injury of 163 civilians, including women and children. The (RSF) described the massacre as a \u201cfull-fledged war crime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement issued today, the (RSF) shared that the most recent bombing of \u201cKutum\u201d is part of a recurring and systematic pattern of targeting civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of a recurring and systematic pattern of targeting innocent civilians, on the evening of Wednesday, 8 April 2026, the town of Kutum in North Darfur State was subjected to a drone attack carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), operating under the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group. The strike targeted a civilian social gathering, constituting a grave crime and reflecting a dangerous escalation in the frequency and severity of violations against defenceless civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) strongly condemn this heinous act and the ongoing, systematic targeting of civilians. A wedding gathering attended by local residents including women and children was deliberately targeted, resulting, according to preliminary reports, in the deaths of at least 56 people, including 17 children, and injuring a further 107 individuals, all of whom were innocent civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This crime constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and norms, foremost among them the principles of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibit the targeting of civilians and civilian gatherings. It amounts to a full-fledged war crime that demands urgent accountability and an end to impunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RSF emphasises that the deliberate targeting of a purely civilian gathering demonstrates a profound disregard for human life and dignity. It places the international community before its legal and moral obligations to act immediately to stop these violations, ensure effective protection for civilians, and launch independent, transparent investigations to hold those responsible accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our forces also underscore the importance of patriotic and professional role of the media and journalists in documenting such crimes and conveying the truth, despite the significant risks they face while operating in conflict zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RSF extends its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wish a swift recovery to the injured, and reaffirm their full solidarity with civilians affected by conflict, alongside their firm commitment to the principles of justice, and the right to life and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The continued targeting of civilians will only deepen the humanitarian crisis and underscores the calls for a firm stance from regional and international actors to put an end to these repeated crimes and violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
