Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced that a hospital it supports in the Chadian city of “Adr\u00e9” received 23 civilian casualties following a drone strike this morning that targeted a fuel depot in “Ad\u00e9kong” border market near Chad. 

According to local sources, the bombing, attributed to a Sudanese Armed Forces’ drone, caused massive explosions at the fuel storage site within the market, resulting in the deaths of four people who were -tragically- burned to death at the blast site, in addition, several civilians sustained injuries of varying severity. 

The head of the organization’s mission in Chad, Gadou Mahmoudou, shared that the hospital has received 23 injured people so far, including four women and seven children under the age of 15, noting that the number of wounded rose from five to 23 in less than an hour. 

Furthermore, this is the second airstrike targeting the market of “Ad\u00e9kong” in less than a month, which naturally prompted growing concerns in regards to the impact of military operations on civilians in the border areas between Sudan and Chad. 

For their part, Doctors Without Borders renewed its call for all parties to the conflict to honor their legal and moral obligations to protect civilians and to avoid targeting populated areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
