On Monday, the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud), headed by Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, met with Emmanuelle Blatmann, Director for Africa and the Indian Ocean at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and officials responsible for the Sudan and Horn of Africa file.<\/p>\n
The aforementioned meeting discussed efforts to support the option of ending the war and the peace process in Sudan, in addition to highlighting the humanitarian catastrophe the country is currently witnessing, and the crisis of internally displaced persons and refugees.<\/p>\n
Hamdok expressed the Alliance\u2019s welcome of the French Parliament\u2019s designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, noting that he had discussed with French officials the danger this organization poses, and the devastation as well as destruction it has caused in Sudan -one of the consequences of which was the war that broke out in (mid-April 2023).<\/p>\n
Hamdok stated that what distinguished the Quad\u2019s initiative calling for an end to the war in Sudan was its clear stance against extremist ideology.<\/p>\n
In an interview with the French Channel, Hamdok explained that Sudan hopes that the international community\u2019s intervention will be \u201cgracious,\u201d aimed at stopping the war and putting an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.<\/p>\n
On the same subject, Eng. Khalid Omar Youssef, the Vice President of the Sudanese Congress Party (SCoP) and a leader in the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud), welcomed the French Parliament\u2019s stance on the Muslim Brotherhood and its inclusion on the list of terrorist organizations. Youssef, who is visiting Norway -heading another Sudanese delegation to meet with European officials as part of efforts put forth to end the war in Sudan, shared that the French Parliament\u2019s adoption of the inclusion of the Muslim Brotherhood on the European Union\u2019s list of terrorist organizations represents an important stance that acknowledges the danger posed by such groups.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cAt a time when the world is adopting a firm stance against terrorism, Sudan oughtn\u2019t to be forsaken into becoming a haven for this group again. Terrorism must be confronted decisively and not tolerated under any pretext.\u201d<\/p>\n
A Tour That Includes 5 European Countries<\/p>\n
The ongoing tour scheduled by the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces\u2019 delegations includes five European countries. It began on Tuesday in France, where they\u2019re scheduled to hold several meetings with European governments and Parliaments, in an effort to support achieving peace in Sudan and highlight the dire humanitarian situation. Moreover, the ongoing European tour extends to Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
