The Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud), sent a direct political and security message to European capitals, warning of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB).<\/p>\n
Sumoud pointed to the Brotherhood\u2019s desperate attempts to exploit the ongoing war in Sudan to rebuild its networks and return as a masked player in a fragile and unstable regional landscape.<\/p>\n
The warning came during high-level meetings held by the delegation of (Sumoud) in Paris with officials at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The head of the Alliance, Abdalla Hamdok, stressed that \u201cThe lax approach in confronting the extremist organizations, especially the Muslim Brotherhood, not only threatens Sudan but serves to create security vulnerabilities, and the latter’s effects\/consequences extend to the region and Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n
The (MB) and the War: Exploiting Chaos<\/p>\n
The delegation of (Sumoud) asserted that \u201cThe war -which has been raging since April 2023, is not isolated from the long legacy of Muslim Brotherhood policies, as they have worked rather tirelessly to dismantle State institutions, weaken the national army, and create an ideal environment for the infiltration of extremism under religious and political slogans.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Alliance’s delegation emphasized that \u201cThe organization is currently seeking to restore its influence through financial and media networks as well as transnational connections, exploiting the security vacuum and attempting to re-present itself as a political force whilst maintaining its ties to violence and extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n
Commending the French Decision<\/p>\n
In this context, (Sumoud) welcomed the French Parliament\u2019s decision to include the Muslim Brotherhood on the European lists of terrorist organizations, considering it a significant step towards dismantling the organization\u2019s transnational structure and cutting off the avenues it utilizes to reposition and expand.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the Alliance believed that such a step is far from being limited to a security dimension, for it represents a political recognition that the Muslim Brotherhood is part of the problem and not part of any solution, be it within Sudan or across the region.<\/p>\n
Warnings About Regional Expansion<\/p>\n
The Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces warned that \u201cThe re-empowerment of the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan will not be confined to the State’s geographical borders, but will facilitate the reactivation of the organization\u2019s branches\/chapters in other countries, exploiting a narrative of victimhood and political divisions in an attempt to revive its extremist wings in various forms.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moreover, the Alliance called on the international community to \u201cAdopt a firm and comprehensive approach based on cutting off funding sources, confronting incitement, and rejecting any political settlements that would grant the organization a new cover to return to the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Battle for a Civil State<\/p>\n
The Alliance of (Sumoud) concluded its message by emphasizing that \u201cSudan\u2019s true battle is not limited to the military aspect, for its a battle against an ideological project that has put forth efforts -for decades- aiming to hijack the State.
