Human Rights Council Spokesperson Amira Halperin revealed, before the Council’s session at the United Nations, information regarding the military support provided by Egypt to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Islamists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halperin told the Council’s session at its 40th meeting -60th session, that Egypt transferred Iranian chemical weapons to the Sudanese Army and the Islamists in Sudan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spokesperson confirmed that Egypt contributed to arming Al-Baraa Ibn Malik group, linked to Al-Qaeda, which the United States has imposed sanctions on recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She stated that approximately ($8 billion) in Sudanese gold has been smuggled into Egypt over the past two years, in addition to (6 billion cubic meters) of Nile water that have been deducted from Sudan’s water share. She stressed the need to include these violations under Chapter 10 of the Convention on the Protection of Human Rights, explaining that Port Sudan has now become a source of weapons and terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, and despite the Port Sudan Authority representative’s objection to the report’s contents, the session chair allowed it to proceed, asserting that its contents constituted a clear violation of human rights, especially since previous reports had proven the Sudanese Army’s use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons in Sudan.
