 In a shockingly catastrophic scene, the earth seemed to swallow the entirety of the village of (Tarsin), located in Jebel Marra, Darfur, along with its inhabitants. The village, which was home to approximately (1,000 people), disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photos circulating on social media documented the complete disappearance of the village’s landmarks in what can only be described as a natural disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The landslides occurred in the village of (Tarsin), in Jebel Marra, in the Amo district of Darfur, following heavy rains that completely leveled the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local authorities stated that the disaster completely obliterated the village, with only one of its residents surviving. They noted that the collapsed area was one of the most famous citrus-producing areas in Jebel Marra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the local authorities have initiated the process of assessing the damage, however, rescue efforts remain extremely difficult due to the rugged terrain and magnitude of the landslides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aforementioned incident comes at a time when Sudan is experiencing an increase in the frequency of natural disasters, with floods and torrential rains this year causing widespread human and material losses in several states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Darfur region, particularly the area of Jebel Marra, represents one of the most fragile areas in the context of the protracted armed conflict, with residents living through the threats of war compound with the lack of services on the one hand, and natural hazards on the other.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
