The Sudanese Civil Committees (SCC) announced today, Thursday, its categorical rejection of the UN Security Council’s statement on the political situation in Sudan, and the Council’s refusal to recognize the Peace and Unity Government (the government of Tasis).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its statement, the (SCC) shared that the government of (Tasis) was formed through a broad-based political alliance, coupled with widespread popular recognition. It considered the UN Security Council statement a clear bias towards the old Sudanese State, which -as asserted by the statement- doesn’t represent the will of the Sudanese people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, the (SCC) believed the Security Council’s statement represents a blatant disregard for the constitutional legitimacy derived from the popular will, and an entrenchment of the crisis rather than a solution to it, by supporting the Port Sudan Authority, as the latter is working to restore the regime of the Islamic Movement, which was overthrown by the Sudanese people through the glorious December revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement explained that the UN Security Council, by adopting a biased position, legitimizes the continued violence and oppression perpetrated by the unconstitutional authority in Port Sudan, and ignores reports by human rights organizations documenting the crimes of the Islamic Movement regime, which -evidently- utilizes chemical weapons as well as internationally prohibited weapons against innocent civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The (SCC) called on the UN Security Council and the United Nations to review their positions and recognize the government formed by the Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) as the legitimate representative of the Sudanese people. They also called for an end to dealing with the unconstitutional Port Sudan Authority, which came to power through the coup of (October 21st, 2021), and destroyed the country by igniting the war of (April 15th, 2025).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
