The Chinese Embassy in Sudan has issued an urgent warning to its citizens, urging them to leave the country “as soon as possible” in light of the continuing deterioration in the security situation and the increased risk to civilians, especially foreigners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an official statement, the embassy explained that Sudan is experiencing a sharp decline in basic services, citing “severe shortages of water, electricity, and fuel,” which have exacerbated the suffering of the population and led to further friction and instability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These warnings came after a series of drone attacks on the city of Port Sudan, targeting military facilities, amongst which is an Air Base and a fuel depot belonging to the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, which was completely destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Port Sudan has been Sudan’s temporary capital (alternative) following the outbreak of the ongoing war in (April 2023). The city houses government headquarters, diplomatic missions, and UN agencies, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons fleeing conflict zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For more than two years, the country has been embroiled in a bloody conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has claimed the lives of tens of thousands and displaced millions of civilians, amidst international warnings of a deteriorating humanitarian and security crisis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
