The leader in the Rapid Support Forces, Eng. Al-Goney Hamdan Daglo, stressed the necessity of establishing a democratic State, building a new Army, and rebuilding civil institutions. He reiterated the importance of addressing historical grievances with the aim of ending the war -in mind- and establishing a new Sudan based on the principles of democracy, making no allowances for groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood to exert control over the Army or seize power for three more decades, as decisions ought to be made in the interest of the people and not for the benefit of specific individuals or groups.<\/p>\n

Al-Goney stated, in a press conference on Friday, entitled \u201cHistorical Justice in Sudan,\u201d that the draft signed between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces on May 11th of last year is an important and fundamental document for any future talks and can be built upon as a basis for the principles of a negotiated solution.<\/p>\n

Al-Goney stressed that recognizing the unity of Sudan and its people represents the first principle, in addition to acknowledging that there is no military solution to the Sudanese crisis, rather it must end through the conclusion of a peaceful solution. As well as equal citizenship, which must be the basis for rights and duties.<\/p>\n

Al-Goney called on the Sudanese people to sacrifice and cooperate in order to build a strong and united country. He emphasized that the Sudanese crisis isn’t -by far- the issue of a singular region, but rather a comprehensive problem that requires an equally comprehensive national diagnosis and treatment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
