The Sudanese intellectual pointed out that its time for Sudan to move from the false nominal independence that has continued since (1956) to achieving real independence.<\/p>\n

Hamad’s statement comes in the context of the accusation made by the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, in regards to the Egyptian Army bombing his forces with aircrafts and supporting the Sudanese Army in the battles currently taking place.<\/p>\n

Since Sudan’s independence from Britain and Egypt in (1956), Egypt has played a major role in influencing the country’s policies.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Cairo has repeatedly supported the Military regimes that assumed power in Sudan, starting with the rule of Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Abboud in the 1960s, then Jaafar \u00a0an-Nimeiry, as well as supporting the Military regime headed by Omar al-Bashir.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Cairo has also obstructed any democratic transformations that would weaken the Sudanese Army\u2019s control over power, in order to preserve its strategic interests that included the Nile water and securing its southern borders.<\/p>\n

In light of the ongoing political and security crises, the Egyptian role in Sudan remains a complex issue that greatly affects the Sudanese people\u2019s efforts to achieve true democracy as well as effective political and economic independence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
