The Coordination-body of the Democratic and Civil Forces \u201cTagadom\u201d criticized the statements made by Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta, in which he announced that the Army is ought to stay in power even after elections were held.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson for the Coordination-body, Bakri El-Jak, shared in a statement to “Darfur 24” that Al-Atta’s speech conveys contempt for the popular will and lack of appreciation for the Sudanese revolution against military rule.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Al-Atta stressed in his statements while addressing Army soldiers in Shendi, River Nile state, the necessity for the Army Commander to remain as the head of the State during the transitional period and even after the elections are held for about three or four electoral cycles.<\/p>\n

Bakri El-Jak added that one of the reasons for the ongoing war is the Armed Forces’ insistence on staying in power, imposing control over the country’s economy and utilizing their power to serve a minority.<\/p>\n

He explained that Al-Burhan overthrew the government after the time came for the transfer of power to the civilian component, and continued, “Al-Burhan found himself in a confrontation with the aspirations of the Rapid Support Forces after they carried out the coup together against the transitional civilian government.”<\/p>\n

El-Jak considered Al-Atta’s speech a dangerous approach that would have an impact on stopping the war and stabilizing the country because it contradicts all domestic, regional and international leanings regarding the future of the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
