The Coordination-body of the Democratic and Civil Forces \u201cTAGADOM\u201d urged the Sudanese components and the diverse local community to show solidarity with the affected and extend possible assistance to those affected by the disaster.<\/p>\n

\u201cTAGADOM\u201d is demanding full disclosure of information regarding the causes of this humanitarian disaster, especially what happened in the “Arbaat” Dam, whether this was the result of natural or human factors, in addition to identifying shortcomings and responsibilities.<\/p>\n

The collapse of “Arbaat” Dam in the Red Sea state led to the death of dozens, more than (700) people are missing and the villages surrounding the dam have completely been eradicated.<\/p>\n

Survivors in the areas of “Al-Qanb” and “Al-Olyb” rushed to the mountains seeking refuge. The survivors of the flood are living in difficult humanitarian conditions as they are still stuck in the surrounding mountains.<\/p>\n

Previous accusations and complaints submitted by the people of the area to the state government more than three months ago have resurfaced, warning against gold prospecting operations in the mines near the dam, which have caused cracks that are difficult to fix, especially during the rainy season. Water seeped through the excavations created by the prospectors, destroying the dam.<\/p>\n

The mines in the “Arbaat” area are owned by a number of Beja Nazirs and a company affiliated with Mubarak Ardol, the former Director General of the Sudanese Company for Mineral Resources.
\nAs for the most productive line, it is owned by Gibril Ibrahim, the Minister of Finance, and is supervised by the Justice and Equality Forces affiliated with him.<\/p>\n

Despite the scale of the disaster and the massive destruction it created, no search teams have arrived for the missing, and the Port Sudan government is still keeping a lid on the situation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
