However, it condemns this imprudent step and stresses its principled rejection of it, noting that \u201cThe government of Port Sudan doesn&#8217;t have the right to implement any agreements related to the Republic of Sudan, as it is an illegitimate government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the 1st of June, Port Sudan government&#8217;s ambassador to Moscow, Mohammed Siraj, told &#8220;RIA Novosti&#8221; of his government&#8217;s commitment to allowing the construction of a Russian Military Base on Sudanese territory overlooking the Red Sea, based on a prior agreement signed by the government of the ousted President Omar al-Bashir in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>This statement comes in confirmation of similar statements issued recently by Assistant Army Commander, Lt. Gen. Yasser Al-Atta.<\/p>\n<p>The Party shared in the statement, \u201cThe urgent priority on today&#8217;s agenda for all patriotic forces concerned for the country\u2019s interest is to stop the war and put an end to its scourge. To urge our partners and friends in the regional and international community alike to support our efforts to stop the war, address the crushing humanitarian catastrophe, as well as to rebuild and reconstruct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Party added, &#8220;Today, Sudan is experiencing an unprecedented crisis, the worst in the world, and there is no way out of it except by stopping the war and establishing a comprehensive political process that excludes only the National Congress Party and its facades, which paves the way for achieving peace and the establishment of a transitional period under civilian leadership.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sudanese Congress Party condemned the statements issued by the Sudanese ambassador to Russia regarding his government\u2019s commitment to allow the construction of a Russian Military Base on Sudanese territory overlooking the Red Sea.
