The loading and unloading workers at the Port of “Othman Digna” in Port Sudan have gone on a strike since Sunday, which has rendered the Port completely paralyzed and led to the accumulation of goods, passengers, as well as hindering ship movement in the port.<\/p>\n
A statement by the loading and unloading workers at the port of “Othman Digna” accused the general director of violating the laws and regulations by appointing new \u201cKalat\u201d workers. The events taking place at the port coincides with the arrival of the first group of pilgrims heading to the Holy Lands to perform the Hajj.<\/p>\n
The workers considered the violations committed by the current general director of the Port of “Othman Digna” to have crossed all \u201cred lines\u201d in appointing new \u201cKalat\u201d workers.<\/p>\n
The workers gave the general director a deadline of three days to rescind the decision, and threatened to stage a sit-in and completely shutdown the Port if the director refused to rescind his decisions.<\/p>\n
They called for rescinding the recent appointment decisions, in addition to setting up a session with the Minister of Transport in the presence of the Police and Security Service.<\/p>\n
The Finance Minister Gibril Ibrahim had concluded an agreement -according to a leaked statement- with the Army Commander-in-Chief, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to grant the Justice and Equality Movement “JEM” functional shares in the ports to varying degrees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
