Two members of the Armed Movements’ \u201cJoint Force\u201d were killed under torture before their bodies were burned inside the army base in the city of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.<\/p>\n
The \u201cJoint Force\u201d is fighting alongside the army’s 6th Infantry Division in the city of El-Fasher, North Darfur state.<\/p>\n
A commander in the \u201cJoint Force\u201d -who preferred to withhold his identity- told “Sudan Tribune” on Wednesday: \u201cMohammed Ibrahim Khamis and Asim Abdel-Karim were killed while being interrogated by the Army.\u201d<\/p>\n
He pointed out that the army arrested Khamis and Abdel-Karim near the artillery headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division, while they were passing -unarmed- by the site, and were then transferred inside the Armed Forces base.<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cBoth soldiers were subjected to severe forms of torture during the interrogations to reveal their identity, which included stabbing them with sharp objects and beating them to death. The army also burned the bodies before realizing they belonged to the Joint Force.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both soldiers were affiliated with the Sudan Liberation Movement “SLM” – Minni Arcua Minnawi faction, which is the most prominent movement participating in the \u201cJoint Force,\u201d that has readily participated in the war alongside the army and against the Rapid Support Forces.<\/p>\n
The commander went on to explain that the situation created tension, after a large number of soldiers from the “Joint Force” gathered at the Army Medical Corps “Military” Hospital, to which the bodies of the two killed soldiers were transferred.<\/p>\n
He revealed that the army commander in the city of El-Fasher and the officers of the command-and-control room in the “Joint Force” moved to contain the situation, as the individuals accused were arrested in preparation to be brought before a Military Court.<\/p>\n
High tension prevails in El-Fasher as a result of the preparations of the Army and Armed Movements on one hand and the Rapid Support Forces on the other, to fight battles inside the city, amidst international calls to the contrary, due to the presence of hundreds of thousands of civilians inside the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
