{"id":158691,"date":"2024-05-01T12:50:18","date_gmt":"2024-05-01T10:50:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/assayha.net\/en\/?p=158691"},"modified":"2024-05-12T13:28:53","modified_gmt":"2024-05-12T11:28:53","slug":"u-s-special-envoy-for-sudan-testifies-before-congress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/assayha.net\/en\/158691\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan testifies before Congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, provides testimony regarding the situation in Sudan before the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, in a session scheduled for today, Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Perriello participates in the meetings of the AU Expanded Mechanism for the Resolution of the Sudan Crisis and &#8220;IGAD&#8221; concerning Sudan in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n<p>The American Special Envoy expressed the US government&#8217;s interest in close cooperation with the African Union and partners in order to put forth joint efforts into putting an end to the war and humanitarian crisis in Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>He indicated an urgency in taking organized and fast-paced steps by everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Perriello welcomed the comments of the African Union and the United Nations regarding El-Fasher and the serious humanitarian consequences of the attacks that targeted the city.
