The United Arab Emirates expressed its deep concern over the escalation of tensions in El-Fasher region, the capital of North Darfur state, as well as the threat it poses to Sudanese civilians.<\/p>\n
The Emirates urged all armed factions, including the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces, to end the fight and return to the negotiation table.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed the call to all warring parties to abide by their obligations under the international humanitarian law and to take immediate, decisive action to ease tensions and avoid propelling Sudan into further levels of instability.<\/p>\n
Adding: \u201cWe urge the UAE to bolster the international humanitarian response and to provide urgent relief to those in need within Sudan\u2019s borders and in neighboring countries.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement mentioned that: \u201cThe UAE expresses its deep concern about reports of sexual violence against women and girls, the ever-mounting risk of famine, as well as the indiscriminate aerial bombardment, in addition to the continued suffering and displacement of thousands of civilians, especially children, women, and the elderly.\u201d<\/p>\n
The UAE called on the Security Council to take the necessary measures to ensure an end to the war and the safe and unhindered access of humanitarian aid to all regions of Sudan. The Emirates affirmed its consistent position of demanding an immediate ceasefire and a political solution to the crisis, as well as its support for the political process and efforts to achieve national consensus towards a civilian-led government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
