Coinciding with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan and in light of the wide spread of\u201d food\u201d and goods offered in the Khartoum markets, trade in spoiled food has emerged that has caused a number of poisoning cases and claimed the lives of consumers. In the Omdurman market, one of the street vendors spreads fruit, including “raisins \u201cof various colors, yellow, black, brown, on top of a\u201d bucket” around which market visitors gather to buy. One of the consumers came from afar asking about the price and found it suitable, where the Kilo is sold for 2000 pounds \u201d \u201d two thousand pounds”, he examined the fruit with his hand, feeling its quality, and discovered the presence of decay in the three types of raisins, he backed off the purchase and told those with him that part of it expired and asked them to inspect the product before buying it, a fight broke out and insulted him and the seller, who almost beat him. That consumer, a middle-aged man, who later turned out to be a health officer working in a local in Khartoum, promised to clean the market from all those manipulating the health of citizens and causing food poisoning. The health officer, who preferred to withhold his name, revealed the high death toll of poisoning with expired products, and told(Al-sayha) not all street vendors are unscrupulous, but few of them are unaware of the danger of the goods they trade in and seek to earn quick money by deceiving the consumer and displaying poorly stored goods, and pointed to the existence of shops selling canned, dried raisins and other goods inhabited by a deadly worm and decayed raisins \u201cand these are often bought in Ramadan. Nutritionist Dr. Etimad Al-Taher, she told (Al-sayha): fraudulent trade causes food poisoning as a result of eating foods contaminated with bacteria or viruses, which leads to inflammation in the stomach and intestines resulting in stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, and then death in some cases. She pointed out that the failure to refrigerate or freeze foods and fruits at an appropriate temperature infects her with a disease that is transmitted to humans according to the volume of circulation and intake, and added What is offered today in the markets under the sun of strawberries, grapes and others is a matter of confusion and anxiety and needs a pause, organization and creating a suitable environment for shopping.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
