The death of a young man in police custody sparks widespread outrage in Sudan

Recently, Al-Jazouli Adam Al-Zamzami lost his life in custody at Al-Maseed Police Station, located in Al-Jazeera state, according to the information put forth by Al-Jazeera Liberation Movement, as the latter called for an independent investigation into the circumstances of his death.

The Movement further stated that the incident constitutes a serious violation of the law and, by virtue of severity, necessitates holding the parties responsible for the management of the Station accountable, noting that testimonies from residents of the area spoke of previous practices within the detention facility that warrant investigation.

In addition, Al-Jazeera Liberation Movement promptly shared that the recurrence of such incidents threatens confidence in the judicial institutions, warning that any delay in revealing the facts could negatively impact social stability.

The Movement demanded the formation of an independent investigation committee, the suspension of all those involved in the incident pending the completion of the investigation, the publication of the investigation’s findings to the public, and the implementation of reforms within detention facilities to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
