A Sudanese student killed by SAF in Sennar
In a tragic accident in the city of Sennar, Wafaa Hussein, a Sudanese student, who was heading to the Examination Center to take the Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) exams; was killed after being hit by a stray bullet fired by members of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
According to witnesses’ statements, the incident occurred when a private vehicle harassed a member of the Sudanese Army -riding a motorcycle- in front of Sennar Cultural Center, which caused both vehicles to lose balance and the motorcycle subsequently fell.
The behavior of the private vehicle driver naturally angered the soldiers, inciting one of them to open fire on the private vehicle, which resulted in the injury of the student -Wafaa Hussein- who was walking on the road at the time of the incident.
Moreover, media outlets and social media platforms previously reported about similar incidents taking place and causing the death of numerous civilians as a result of the Sudanese Army soldiers firing bullets randomly and at will.
Following the incident, activists on social media called for stricter penalties against those who fire bullets arbitrarily, in addition to taking decisive measures to reduce this phenomenon that has become a tragic cause for the loss of innocent lives.
