Tagadom condemns the Army’s airstrikes on Nyala

The Coordination-body of the Democratic and Civil Forces “Tagadom” condemned the airstrikes launched by the Sudanese Army’s warplanes on the city of Nyala, which led to the death of more than (120) civilians and the injury of dozens.

Tagadom shared in a statement regarding the Nyala massacre:

The Coordination-body of the Democratic and Civil Forces “Tagadom” condemns the horrific massacre that took place in the city of Nyala, following an airstrike launched by the Armed Forces’ warplanes that targeted the market and a number of residential neighborhoods, including Al-Riyadh and Khartoum neighborhoods, on Saturday afternoon, November 9th, which resulted in dozens of civilian casualties, including women and children, dozens of others were seriously injured, in addition, vital properties and facilities were destroyed.

This heinous crime comes within the context of the escalation of violence and the targeting of innocent civilians, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and war crimes that are added to the record of horrific violations our people have suffered since the outbreak of the war on April 15th.

Tagadom expresses deep concern in regards to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Nyala, calling on the two parties to the conflict to immediately cease all military operations in civilian areas, to uphold the international humanitarian law and protect civilians. The Coordination-body reiterates as well the necessity of securing safe corridors to evacuate civilians from conflict areas to safer areas, in addition to ensuring the provision of urgent humanitarian care for them.

The Coordination-body calls on the international community as well as regional and international organizations to take urgent steps to stop these tragedies and hold the perpetrators accountable, to put forth efforts to end the devastating war through peaceful solutions that ensure the restoration of security and stability in Sudan.

We, in the “Tagadom” Coordination-body, renew our firm stance regarding the necessity of establishing comprehensive peace in Sudan, through the combination of national and international efforts to guarantee the rights of our people to live in dignity and security.

Mercy and forgiveness be upon the martyrs, and a speedy recovery for the wounded, long live our people’s strive for freedom, peace and justice.
