Sudan National Team in Morocco in preparation for facing Niger in the African Nations

The Sudanese national football team (Falcons of Jediane) made the journey from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, via Douala Airport in Cameroon to Morocco on a private plane to set up a preparatory camp in the city of Rabat.

The Falcons of Jediane are preparing to face Niger in the penultimate round of Group Six of the African Nations qualifiers for the 2025 African Nations Cup finals in Morocco.

The delegation departed with the entirety of the national team stars as well as the administrative and technical staff. The stars from foreign leagues will join them later according to their clubs’ programs. The Niger national team had initially scheduled Togo as venue for its match against the Falcons of Jediane on November 14th.

It is worth noting that the plane chartered by President Al-Burhan had transported the Falcons of Jediane delegation from Mauritania to Dar es Salaam, provided the team with the comfort required, which contributed to the victory achieved yesterday over the Taifa Stars to reach the second round of the (CHAN) qualifiers.

During the Sudan-Tanzania match in the qualifiers, the support of the Badr Airlines crew for the Falcons of Jediane at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium was the most prominent.

The crew of the private plane that transported the Sudanese national team from Mauritania to Tanzania was keen to be present at the match stadium to support the players against the Taifa Stars, they were a remarkable presence carrying the Sudanese flag and cheering on the heroes of the Falcons of Jediane. After the end of the match, they celebrated with the players who expressed their happiness with the crew’s presence inside the stadium and their support. They praised their high-class treatment of the delegation, their keenness on their comfort and providing them with the best services.

Historic Landing

The Badr Airlines flight, which transported the national football team delegation from Dar es Salaam to Karlanka in Morocco, took (10) hours.

During the flight, the plane stopped to refuel at Douala Airport in Cameroon. This flight is the first for a Sudanese airline to land at King Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, Morocco.

Appiah: We’re Building Two Teams

Ghanaian Kwesi Appiah, the technical director of the national team, praised the players, their performance against the Tanzanian team at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the second leg of the first round of the African qualifiers for the (CHAN) finals, as well as the deserved victory of the Falcons of Jediane over their host Tanzania in front of their fans and on their home ground.

Appiah added that despite the repercussions of travel and the long journey from Nouakchott to the Tanzanian capital Dar es Salaam via some airports, the players delivered on their promise, bore the responsibility and achieved the most important part, qualifying for the second round of the qualifiers.

Kwesi Appiah expressed his satisfaction with the performance and the result despite some shortcomings, which will be focused on and addressed during the coming period. He went in to express happiness about the opportunity to work on two teams, one for the (AFCON) and the other for the (CHAN), the latter will be a tributary to the first team, as a number of its players will be used in an effort to avoid injury, suspension, fluctuating technical level and other absences. He added that he will strive to create two teams on the same level in the coming period.

Regarding the match, Kwasi stated: Sudan overcame the Tanzanian obstacle on penalties (6-5) after each team won its home round by one goal, and will meet its Ethiopian counterpart in the second and final stage of the qualifiers for the finals that will be held in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.

The Ethiopian match is preceded by a fateful battle against Niger in the decisive and qualifying round scheduled for the 14th of this November, which the Falcons of Jediane enter blessed with numerous opportunities and need only one point to officially announce its qualification for the (AFCON) finals in Morocco 2025.
