Dengue Fever claims the lives of three doctors in Kassala

Three doctors died at Kassala Teaching Hospital in Eastern Sudan due to Dengue Fever, which is spreading widely in the state. A source from the Ministry of Health in Kassala state indicated that there is an unprecedented increase in cases of Dengue Fever, especially among displaced persons and arrivals, which has led to a significant increase in the number of deaths.

The source confirmed that the emergency department at Kassala Teaching Hospital receives between (50) and (60) new cases of Dengue Fever on a daily basis, in addition to cases being treated in other hospitals in various localities of the state.

This situation raises concerns among doctors and public health specialists, as it requires taking urgent measures to limit the spread of the disease.

For his part, Dr. Zain Al-‘Abidin Ali, a doctor at Kassala Teaching Hospital, explained that the death rate due to Dengue Fever has increased among different age groups. He attributed the spread of the disease among displaced persons and arrivals to their lack of the necessary immunity, as they are exposed to infection for the first time.

Dengue Fever is endemic in the state and is transmitted by mosquitoes, which calls for intensified efforts to limit its spread.
