A senior “SAF” Commander dies in mysterious circumstances

Yesterday, in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, a senior officer in the Sudanese Army, who held the position of Commander of an important military facility, was pronounced dead, while conflicting informations was reported regarding the circumstances of his death. Some reported that he was targeted by the Rapid Support Forces, while others stated that he was assassinated by Sudanese Army affiliates (Islamist officers).

Supporters of the Army mourned the death of Brig. Gen. Abdel Nasser Mohamed Osman, Commander of the Munitions Factory in Al-Shajara military area in the capital, Khartoum, and shared that “He was martyred after being injured and transferred to the city of Merowe in the Northern state.” They indicated that he was a member of the 44th batch of the Military Academy, while the Army spokesperson has yet to issue any comment on the matter.

Accounts close to the Rapid Support Forces on social media reported the killing of the brigadier General, while their accounts on social media confirmed that he was targeted by snipers affiliated with them.

However, press observatories reported that Brig. Gen. Abdel Nasser, who is considered one of the most prominent Islamist officers in the Sudanese Armed Forces, was assassinated by affiliates of the Sudanese Army, due to intelligence reports that spoke of his relationship with the Rapid Support Forces, while the Army leadership and its agencies maintained secrecy.

Last October, the Commander of the Armoured Corps in Al-Shajara military area, Maj. Gen. Ayoub Abdul-Qader, was killed, and it was stated that his death was a result of a shell falling on his private residence, while a hypothesis was also raised that he was assassinated.

A few days ago, Brig. Gen. Omar Al-Naaman Abdeen, Director of the Operations and Coordination Department of the Counter-Terrorism Authority in the Intelligence Service, Commander of the Special Task Forces of the Service in the Armoured Corps, was also killed by “RSF” snipers.

Last February, the Military Intelligence in Omdurman arrested (3) Army officers who planned to assassinate the member of the Sovereignty Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, Yasser Al-Atta.
