Eastern Alliance calls for sending UN military forces to Sudan

The Eastern Sudan Civil Forces Alliance called on the United Nations to establish an urgent humanitarian operation that includes sending military forces to supervise the delivery of aid to those in need, while pressuring the warring parties to sign a ceasefire agreement.

The Alliance’s spokesman, Saleh Ammar, expressed deep regret and concern over the indications that the ceasefire talks in the Swiss city of “Geneva” won’t be held due to the absence of the Army delegation, which is scheduled to bring together the warring parties “on Wednesday”.

He shared in a statement that the absence of any party from the negotiations at this point is considered an extreme degree of disregard for the lives and blood of the Sudanese people, which has been shed in callously for nearly a year and a half.
