The “AU” renews call to warring Sudanese parties to negotiate

The African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye, urged the parties to the conflict in Sudan to choose the path of negotiations.

Adeoye stressed in a press conference in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, that conflict resolution must be achieved through dialogue, if only in order to put an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Recently, Sudanese parties appealed to the African Union to expand the scope of its consultations with all parties, similar to the last Preparatory Meeting, while maintaining a neutral stance to ensure transparency in the political process.

The Coordination-body of the Democratic and Civil Forces “TAGADOM” boycotted the Preparatory Meeting, while the African Union made a decision on the 18th of July to organize additional dialogues with the forces that didn’t participate in the Preparatory Meeting.

The African Union called on all Sudanese parties to focus on the cooperation regardless of any other considerations in order to put an end to the conflict.

The Forces of Freedom and Change “FFC” and “TAGADOM” stipulate that cadres of the former regime and political forces that support the continuation of the war shouldn’t participate in any measures related to determining the future of governance in Sudan.
