SAF targets a market in Nyala and kills 9 civilians 

 

Recently, a drone strike carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) targeted the market of El-Geneina, in the city of Nyala, South Darfur state. The attack claimed the lives of nine civilians, five of whom were women.

Sources reported that the drone bombed the market, hence, flames came to life as the fire engulfed the site. In the aftermath, reports shared that several victims were burned beyond recognition due to the intensity of the flames.

According to initial reports, the bombing claimed the lives of five women and four other people, whilst reports indicate that several people are still missing, as a state of widespread chaos and panic consumes the residents.

In addition, the aforementioned attack caused extensive damage to the market and destroyed merchants’ property. Hence, residents rushed to the scene in a desperate attempt to extinguish the fires and rescue the injured.
