Shocking Statistics: 7,000 Sudanese nationals in Egyptian prisons whilst death toll rises

Recent official statistics revealed that the number of Sudanese refugees imprisoned in Egypt has reached approximately 7,000 individuals. Furthermore, the aforementioned are being held in extremely harsh and complex conditions without any objective justification, despite the fact that most detainees possess valid residency permits or documents provided by the UNHCR.

Human rights activists stated that three to four Sudanese nationals die on weekly basis in Egyptian prisons due to the callous acts of violence perpetrated by the Egyptian Authorities against detainees.

In addition, Egyptian sources have attempted to justify the security campaigns carried out against Sudanese nationals in Cairo as a response to a request from the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the Port Sudan Authorities, aiming to force Sudanese nationals to return to their country of origin.
